The Escher String Quartet

The Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty. A former BBC New Generation Artist, the quartet has performed at the BBC Proms and is a regular guest at Wigmore Hall. In New York City, the ensemble serves as season artists of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, where it has presented the complete Zemlinsky quartet cycle.

The quartet has toured extensively in the U. S. including concerts at Alice Tully Hall, The Kennedy Center, Palm Beach, Baltimore, and Pasadena. They have also made a distinctive impression throughout Europe with concerts including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Berlin Konzertthaus, Slovenian Philharmonic Hall, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and the Auditorium du Louvre.

Recordings of the complete Mendelssohn quartets, released on the BIS label in 2017 were received with the highest critical acclaim. The quartet has also recently recorded the complete Zemlinsky quartets in two volumes on the Naxos label.

Andrew Tyson, pianist

Hailed by BBC Radio 3 as “a real poet of the piano,” American pianist Andrew Tyson is emerging as a distinctive and important new musical voice. In summer 2015 he was awarded First Prize at the Geza Anda Competition in Zurich, Switzerland.

Mr. Tyson has appeared with the North Carolina Symphony, the Colorado Symphony, the Kansas City Symphony, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Osaka Symphony, SWR Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart, and the National Orchestra of Belgium.

Recital appearances include venues such as Brussels’ Palais des Beaux-Arts, New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Zurich Tonhalle, London’s Wigmore Hall, the Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival, and the Pacific Music Festival in Japan.

Tyson’s recital discs have been issued on the Alpha Classics label. His debut disc comprises the complete Chopin Preludes, whilst his second album released in March 2017 features works by Scriabine and Ravel.

Mr. Tyson received his Artist Diploma from the Juilliard School where he won the Gina Bachauer Competition and the Arthur Rubenstein Prize in Piano.
