Dvořák’s

Date:
4/18/2020 at 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM

Event Description

Dvořák’s dramatic Seventh Symphony is considered one of his greatest. A departure from his traditionally bright, folk theme-filled melodies, the D minor work instead offers an emotional composition full of dark sonorities and biting rhythms.  Inspired by Brahms, the Seventh Symphony also reflects Dvořák’s deep desire to express his Czech roots. Bohemian melodies, passionate harmonies and rich orchestration co-mingle in this quintessential Romantic-era symphony.  Acclaimed pianist, Jeffrey Biegel returns to Central Florida to perform two works with your Space Coast Symphony Orchestra.  Claude Bolling’s Suite or Flute and Jazz Piano created a bonafide hit in the mid 1970’s. Its ingenious fusion of baroque stylings with the jazz idiom was an instant classic and remained in the Billboard Top 40 for ten years.  The SCSO’s principal flautist, Jennifer Grey performs with Biegel, in a masterful arrangement of the acclaimed work.  Biegel will also perform Spiritualist, a concerto in three movements by SCSO favorite collaborator -- and recent Grammy winner, Kenneth Fuchs.  Each movement of the memorable concerto was inspired by an abstract painting by American artist, Helen Frankenthaler.  Fuchs's Spiritualist was recorded in 2018 with Biegel and the London Symphony for Naxos Records.
