Brevard Community Chorus

The Brevard Community Chorus is a volunteer organization of 100-plus voices that meets weekly for the purpose of rehearsing and performing the larger works of the choral repertoire. At its home in the Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts, the chorus has performed such works as Handel’s Messiah, Poulenc’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem, Brahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem and Orff ’s Carmina Burana.

The chorus was formed in 1969 by Eldon Moen, then a teacher of Humanities at Brevard Junior College (now Eastern Florida State College). Begun as a small choir from the Junior College with members from Melbourne’s First Baptist Church, the chorus continued to grow and perform. In 1987, the chorus found a permanent home in the King Center for the Performing Arts and the conducting baton passed to Dr. Jeff Reynolds. Over the next decade, the chorus grew in stature and began touring internationally.

The current conductor of the chorus is Dr. Robert E. Lamb who came to BCC in 1998 to continue steering the chorus in exciting directions. Under his leadership, the chorus has continued to tour Europe during summers and has performed a number of times alongside the Brevard Symphony Orchestra.
