Florida’s Space Coast is full of exciting activities for the whole family, but it’s the locals who know the true hidden gems. From the top beaches for surfing, the best views for a rocket launch and the most scenic nature walks — Space Coast Hidden Gems is here to let you in on the best kept secrets of Florida’s Space Coast, so you can get the perfect taste of Space Coast culture.

Exploration Tower: The Exploration Tower is not so hidden due to its large size, but the views and the experience inside is something you don’t want to miss! Never before seen panoramic views of not only Port Canaveral and the cruise ships but of Kennedy Space Center awaits you. This seven-story structure features an observation deck perfect for viewing rocket launches, interactive exhibits, auditorium, gift shop and cafe. View the rich maritime history of Port Canaveral, and learn about stories of the region, including military battles, space, eco-tourism and beach culture.

Thousand Islands: Get outdoors and breathe in the fresh air as you explore the Thousand Islands in Cocoa Beach. From kayaking and paddle boarding to looking for dolphins or fishing the Salt Marsh Flats, there are plenty of options to suit every taste and budget.

Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands: As a magnet for local wildlife, visitors will see birds, alligators and turtles in abundance and otters are not uncommon. There is a bald eagle/great horned owl nest that can be viewed from the perimeter road, and depending upon the season, the park is home to migratory birds from the Caribbean.

2nd Light Beach: If you love to surf you need to stop by this beach located at the second traffic light as you travel south out of Cocoa Beach, this surf hotspot is a favorite among the locals.

Stick Marsh: Love to fish? The Stick Marsh is highly regarded as one of the premier bass fishing locations in the United States. More than 6,500 acres of stump-filled shallows hold what may be the largest average weight largemouth bass population available to anglers fishing.
