Kennedy Space Center has partnered up with NASA and the Astronauts Memorial Foundation to host NASA’s Day of Remembrance on Thursday, January 27 at 10 a.m. at the Space Mirror Memorial in the visitor complex. The Remembrance Day ceremony will honor all astronauts who have sacrificed their lives while furthering the cause of space exploration and discovery.
According to a release, Thad Altman, President and CEO of the Astronauts Memorial Foundation, and Kelvin Manning, Deputy Director of NASA Kennedy Space Center, are scheduled to speak at the ceremony. The commemoration will include a wreath-laying ceremony. All attendees will receive flowers to pay respects to our fallen heroes.
Other attendees to the event will include Sheryl Chaffee, daughter of astronaut Roger Chaffee, Lowell Grissom, brother of astronaut Gus Grissom, Kathie Scobee Fulgham, daughter of Space Shuttle Challenger Commander Dick Scobee, Evelyn Husband Thompson, widow of Space Shuttle Columbia Commander Rick Husband, and Therrin Protze, CEO of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
The ceremony will also be streamed live on Kennedy Space Center’s Facebook page at 10 a.m. ET on Thursday, January 27.
