On Saturday, June 26th, American Space Museum will be opening its doors to the MOB, and the museum is inviting you to join the fun!

As part of the monthly American Space Museum’s Celebration Series, the “Welcome Summer: Meet the MOB” event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Space Museum in Titusville, preserving the birth of America’s space age.

According to a release, many of the 20-plus Museums of Brevard (MOB) will have representatives on-site sharing their story and offering ideas for a local Summer “Staycation.”

The Museums of Brevard (MOB) is an informal organization comprised of stimulating museums and historic sites in Brevard County, Florida.

MOB members include:

  • Valiant Air Command Warbird
  • Veterans Memorial Center
  • American Police Hall of Fame
  • Cape Canaveral Lighthouse
  • Museums of Dinosaurs
  • Moore Cultural Center of Civil Rights
  • Pritchard House
  • Rossetter House
  • Field Manor
  • Green Gables
  • Lawndale
  • Sams Homestead
  • Florida Surf Museum
  • Brevard Museum of History
  • Air Force Space & Missile Museum
  • Sands Space History Center
  • North Brevard Historical
  • Liberty Bell
  • Library of Florida History
  • Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge
  • American Space Museum

Patrons can visit the MOB tables, enjoy a panel discussion at 1 p.m. hosted by Florida’s Space Coast Office of Tourism featuring some of the museum directors, and participate in a Q&A session from the audience.

“We are having a family MOB meeting to reach those curious about Brevard County’s exciting history,” said Mark Marquette, president of the MOB.

The event will focus on supporting the hidden gems of Brevard County’s rich history. MOB events celebrate historical preservation, artifacts of the region, and the unique history of exploration, nature, and space.

“This open house of MOB representatives is another step to get exposure for these fabulous, niche museums,” Marquette said, who is also the community liaison for the American Space Museum. “Each museum will tantalize the senses and give you a different perspective on what Brevard County is all about.”

Anyone who is not fully vaccinated is still required to wear a mask when visiting the museum. If you do not have a face covering, the museum will provide you with one for free. Patrons beyond the 2-week point, following the final COVID-19 vaccination, are welcome into the museum with masks optional.

The American Space Museum is open for public tours Monday thru Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Docent-led Museum tours are by appointment only, Tuesday through Saturday at 10, 12, and 2.
